Well Water Testing

If your home relies on a private water well, regular water testing is one of the best ways to protect your health and understand your water quality. Unlike public water systems, private wells are not routinely monitored, making testing the well owner's responsibility.

Year-Round Bacteria Testing

The District performs in-house bacterial testing for:

  • Total Coliform
  • E. coli

Samples are accepted Monday through Thursday, with results typically available within 24 hours. This service is for well owners who want to verify that their well water is free of bacterial contamination, particularly after flooding, well repairs, or any other event that may have affected water quality.

Annual Comprehensive Well Water Testing

Each year, the District partners with the Texas Well Owner Network and the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Water Testing Laboratory to offer a comprehensive water quality screening for private well owners in Burleson and Milam Counties.

Unlike the District's routine bacterial testing, samples collected during this annual event are submitted for an extensive analysis with a broad set of additional water quality parameters, including heavy metals, hardness, etc.

Participants receive laboratory results along with educational resources to help interpret their findings and understand any recommendations.

Annual Well Owner Workshop

Following the sample collections, participants are able to receive their test results and attend a free educational workshop where the Texas Well Owner Network specialists explain test results, discuss common water quality concerns, and answer questions about well maintenance, treatment options, and protecting groundwater.
